The hostel is nice and quiet, clean and with a good breakfast included every day downstairs in the cafe. I was very lucky and had a 6 bed female dorm to myself for 3 nights of my 4 night stay, with only one other person joining me for the last night. The beds were comfortable, the room clean and the bathroom was fine too. The hostel is well located in an area popular with tourists, and the Hagia Sofia and Blue mosque on a few minutes away by walking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel is best for those just looking for somewhere to stay, not for meeting other travellers or partying (which suited me fine as this is what I was looking for). I would definitely stay here again and/or recommend it to others, although I think if/when I return to Istanbul I would like to stay in another, perhaps less touristy area as it is such a vast city with lots of neighbourhoods to explore. But this area is great for a first time visit.

I chose Sultan Hotel & Hostel because it seemed like the least expensive, cleanest place to stay in Sultanahmet. I looked at a lot of other places that were hotels vs hostels, and between the added cost and repeated mentions of bedbugs (I saw several mentions of them, with repeat complaints at multiple locations), I went for Sultan, which had the most consistent ratings for cleanliness. It was as clean as I'd hoped (the cleaning person came through my floor daily), and although my single room was pretty small, it was more than enough for me. The shared WC and shower room were always clean and fine. Additionally, I expected to have some noise and sleep issues while I was there (it was mentioned in multiple complaints), but maybe because I was on the third floor and in my own room, but no outside/partying noise penetrated. I am a light sleeper and slept well, with no need for earplugs.

First of all the location is superb. A walkable distance to all major ancient attractions, just walk around twice in the daylight, then you understand the area and tram station and local rail stations are nearby.( Not metro). The receptionist is super friendly and always has a helping hand, easy communicable too.the location is on an ancient street with plenty of restaurants and pubs( prices may be high due to its location. They have a cafe attached to the facilities and will get a standard breakfast for free. Value for money facilities and nice location.

"Staying at Sultan Hostel in Istanbul was an absolute delight! The location couldn't be more perfect, right in the heart of the historic Sultanahmet area, within walking distance of all the major attractions. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great tips on what to see and do in the city. The hostel itself was clean, cozy, and had a wonderful atmosphere, perfect for meeting fellow travelers. I especially loved the attentive front desk staff. Overall, my experience at Sultan Hostel was fantastic, and I can't wait to come back!"

The Sultan Hostel & Guesthouses is my place every time I visit Turkey and Istanbul. The location is excellent, just 2-3 minutes walk to Hajia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. It's a very clean hostel (rooms, beds, sheets, bathrooms, etc). The staff is the best, they are very kind and helpful and make you feel you are at your home. The hostel also provides free good breakfast. I knew the hostel since 3 years and eveyone who came to the Sultan Hostel & Guesthouse had an excellent experience.
